Frequently Asked Questions
> Are the Roboticats still in business?
Nope, we decided to bring things to a close and focus on our careers in a different way. We're still willing to provide a little advice, guidance, or some limited consulting for the right project. We're leaving this site up just for historical purposes.
> What is a Web Developer? Is that the same as a Web Designer?
Web design is a part of web development, but web development includes a lot more; things you might not have even realized were necessary. A web designer does the important job of determining the look, feel and layout of a site.
Web development is about pulling together all the elements of a modern website, including information gathering and organization, database design and creation, application design and coding, copywriting, web branding and web marketing.
We like to think of it as pulling together savvy from a lot of different areas, so your site and business can look good everywhere your web site can be viewed. (Which is anywhere in the world.)
top> How do the Roboticats work?
We have a certain process and method we've developed while working with our clients. Every job we do follows the same basic path:
- We conduct an interview to help determine what you're looking for your project to do.
- We lay out the options, highlight the pros and cons of each and help you make a decision that meets your budget.
- We help you gather all of your hard data and information and organize it for the web.
- We bring in experts to create any necessary branding, copywriting or visual design for your site.
- We design and build the dynamic elements of your site such as e-commerce shopping carts, calendars or intranets.
- We run your site through a rigorous testing process.
- We document the whole site and hand the info over to you so that you have total control over your site.
> Do I have to be in Seattle to work with you?
Roboticat's clients span the globe (or at least from here to Poland.) Thanks to instant messenger, email and the ever-handy telephone we can work with you wherever you are in the world.
> What sets Roboticat apart?
We don't cut corners. We don't do shoddy work. We think out every problem from the ground up before even setting fingers to keyboard. We do the job right the first time and stand behind our work.
top> Why is the company called Roboticat?
We blame the children. A few years ago we were playing a game where the kids were the "Roboticats" and we were the "Robot Masters" who made them clean their rooms. Hey, whatever works, right?
It was a joke when we first thought of it, but now the Roboticat name has come to stand for something tough and agile. It looks like it could tear you to shreds, but it really just likes to make web apps work.
> I've got a really complicated problem, can you do it?
If it has anything to do with the web, odds are we can get the job done. All you have to do is ask. We'll give your our straight up professional opinions for free.
top> How long will my project take?
Every project is different, but at Roboticat we take your time limitations very seriously. When we bid a job we lay out a timeframe and once the job starts, we stick to it. If you've got a tight deadline, let us know and we'll tell you right away if we can make it.
top> How do I get the Roboticat in my corner?
Easy, just tell us what you need.
